Connecting People with Places

In 2019, residents of West Northamptonshire started to benefit from a new community bus service which was desperately needed in the rural areas as public transport availability was rapidly diminishing leaving people isolated and lonely.

For Concessionary bus pass holders the service is provided free within the county of Northamptonshire.

The community bus service is now being made available across the rural communities of South Northants and South Northampton to provide a weekly shopper bus service to the main shopping areas of Towcester, Brackley, Banbury and Northampton the service operates 5 days a week.

Why do we need Community Bus Service?

With the removal of bus subsidies to the commercial operators many reduced or removed bus services from low usage areas which resulted in a number of villages without a bus service. This has a great impact on the health and well being of the residents not to mention the disruption caused to them and families who have to find more expensive alternatives

South Northants District was the only area in Northamptonshire without an integrated Community Transport Scheme to assist its ageing population and social needs, with the majority suffering some type of mobility issues and nearly half live ALONE needing additional Adult Social Care.
