MiDAS Driver Accessible

Suitable for anyone who is required to drive a minibus as part of their role. That might be a volunteer who drives occasionally for a local community group or a paid driver working full time.

 

Pricing

MiDAS Driver Accessible training costs £181 per delegate. Please be aware that, if the organisation registering for training is not a member of the CTA, an additional charge of £8.00 per delgate will be applied. 

Eligibility

  • Eligibility is for anyone who has a requirement to drive a minibus as part of their role, from occasional voluntary drivers to full time paid drivers.
  • Employees of a MiDAS registered organisations. Organisations can register for free.

Benefits

MiDAS is the gold standard training scheme for minibus drivers in the community transport sector and beyond, ensuring that minibus drivers are able to provide safe, legal and comfortable journeys.

Facilitator

The training course will be facilitated by a MiDAS Driver Assessor.

Syllabus

Online theory course and theory assessment (90 minutes)

90 minutes of interactive and engaging E-Learning, covering the legal responsibilities of drivers and the essential theoretical knowledge needed to provide safe, legal and comfortable journeys.

Individual Practical Session and Driving Assessment (90 mins)

Up to 45 minutes in a minibus working individually with a Driver Assessor. This session provides drivers with an opportunity to ask any questions they have based on their online course and is tailored to their needs and ability.

 

Practical Skills Assessment

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate good practice when:

  • Assisting someone with walking difficulties
  • Assisting someone who has sight loss
  • Assisting a wheelchair user

Additionally, you will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate good practice when:

  • Assisting a wheelchair user to board and alight a minibus using a passenger lift or ramp
  • Using wheelchair tie-down equipment
  • Fitting and removing a passenger safety belt

Before the assessment you will be shown demonstrations and be given the opportunity to practice under the supervision of the trainer.

The nearest train stations are at Milton Keynes and Northampton. Onward bus routes from these stations to Towcester are infrequent and subject to change. There is no direct bus link to the ABILITY office at Caswell Science Park.
