Bicester Bee

Fixed bus routes, operating 6 days a week, Monday – Saturday (excluding bank holidays). Three routes (81,82 & 108) calling at Ardley, Bicester, Bucknell, Caversfield, Cottisford, Fewcott, Finmere, Fringford, Fritwell, Hethe, Langford Medical Centre, Mixbury, Somerton, Souldern, Stoke Lyne and Stratton Audley.

Fares

The Bicester Bee services have taken part in the £2 Bus fare Cap Scheme supported by the Department of Transport. The fare for single bus journeys will be capped at £2 until 31 December 2024 in an effort to help tackle the cost of living crisis. The cap will only apply to single journeys.

The Bus

  • 16 passenger seats
  • 1 wheelchair place

  • Grab handles (entrance, seating and standing)

The Drivers

Our Drivers are MiDAS trained. Although the scheme is not mandatory there are many advantages to successful completion of further driver training. 

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to pay a membership to use the Bicester Bee?

No. This service is different to our normal Demand Responsive Transport shopper service which is a membership-based service. This service you can just turn up at the pickup point and board the bus.

Who is ABILITY?

Community Transport Schemes provide a mode of transport for those who either cannot use or do not have access to public transport.  

ABILITY operate on-demand FREE bus services throughout Northamptonshire and North Oxfordshire. Free of charge to holders of a concessionary bus pass. 

Since 2018 our fleet of luxury minibuses have been connecting people with places, linking hamlets, villages, and market towns throughout the county. 

Can you take passengers in wheelchairs?

There is 1 space for a wheelchair at the front of the bus. 

Can I take my dog?

We are unable to accommodate pets (regardless of their behaviour) on the Ability bus with the exception of Assistance and emotional support dogs. 

What happens if the Bus is full?

Unfortunately, this means that no further passengers may board. 

Do you accept the English National Travel Scheme pass (Elderly and Disabled)?

Yes, we accept bus passes within the scheme rules from Oxfordshire County Council such as they are only valid after 09:00. 

Do you offer return, weekly, or monthly season tickets?

Not at the moment, but if there is sufficient demand than we will look to introduce them.
